Mrs Debbie Voigt

Debbie Voigt joined the diabetes team in 1999. She previously worked as a midwife, and as Charge Nurse in the neonatal unit in Ninewells Hospital, Dundee. She has ten years experience as a Health Visitor.

In 2002 she was seconded for one year to evaluate the impact of dedicated diabetes specialist nurse support within the wards in Ninewells Hospital. Her evaluation identified key areas of diabetes care for improvement. Her main interest and specialist nurse role is to improve safety in the care of people with diabetes during illness and hospital admission and to support and educate the healthcare staff caring for them. She was involved in the Diabetes UK Buddy Project, a patient involvement initiative, training people with diabetes in helping and supporting others who are living with the condition.
